  • Districts were on the line for my senior year and it was also one my most important matches. The match started, and my heart was racing knowing that my whole wrestling career up to this point might be ended. Quickly I shot on my opponent and took him down. While grappling on the mat a managed to get three near fall points, and almost ended the match. By the time I had both of his shoulders on the mat, the first period ended.
Quickly the second period began my old shoulder injuries that had occurred earlier in the season started to act up. I was up five points and match was going really well for me, until I shot again and hit my shoulder wrong. With the pain coursing through my shoulder, my match began to turn for the worse. I was the one with my back on the mat, struggling to get to my stomach. My shoulder aching and my energy drained, I didn’t realize I let my shoulder rest on the mat. Before I could give one last hard push to get off my shoulder I hear a loud slam on the mat, and I knew my season was over.
