  • I'd fallen asleep while reading, mid-afternoon. When I awoke he was there. Sitting, just sitting.

    It was all good and fine, that there was no reason to worry.

    “But I never did worry” I thought.
    “No, but I did” he answered.


    I sensed a world weary, contented smile (rare for him) and then he was gone.
