  • I’d been thinking for days about how I need to get out there. Need to go looking for some moments to capture, moments whose stories I can tell. In truth, it’s made me anxious at times.

    And then, from my second floor window, I heard the notes carried in on the breeze. I knew she was downstairs, picking her way tentatively out on the porch.

    And I realized that they -- the neighbors I couldn’t think of and hadn’t realized I had -- we’re out there as well, as they’d been all morning, welcoming the Spring with their racket.

    So I quickly grabbed my gear and headed outside, remembering that those moments are always here, all around me.
