  • This is a recent photo of Nick and Mabel in their home in Chicago, where Mabel is a concert pianist and Nick is a jazz musician and engineer at the audio equipment company Shure, Inc. Last year, Nick and Mabel turned their basement into a recording studio where Nick's band could rehearse and record. Only problem was, their ceiling was too low for Nick's upright bassist to fit. So, Nick and Mabel cut a hole in their ceiling.
That's the kind of people Nick and Mabel are--the kind who don't mind having a hole in their ceiling if it means accommodating a double bass.
