  • There is a moment in the day where the view on my drive home is wonderful and I can truly appreciate where I am. Most of the time it is a rush, to school and back. I am constantly catching myself living for the future. I try and ground myself, remembering to live for the moment but my mind wanders. I think of where I will be and what I will be doing a few years down the road.

Vet school is hard and at the moment it is keeping me up. It is not often I get to search through the stories on Cowbird to appreciate other people's lives. I am envious of those who have weekends off and who tell their stories of vacations, their children, and the simple joys of life.

My partner and I have been perpetual students for years now. It is our way of life but we constantly want to change it yet we continue to pursue this unbalanced lifestyle. Many days I question my motives. Picking up and leaving my friends and family for this stressful life.

Then I breathe and remember. This is for the animals.
