  • I am a survivor of abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.

Over a month ago, I started therapy again and picked up a workbook, Healing the Trauma of Domestic Violence: A Workbook for Women. Around the same time I was reading Jane McGonigal's book, Reality is Broken: Why Games Make Us Better and How They Can Change the World. In the book she talks about a game called SuperBetter which she made to help her recover from a head injury back in 2009. The game involves your friends and family to help you get better.

Starting the therapy and working on the workbook was really hard. So that's when I got the idea to use SuperBetter to help me get better from post traumatic stress disorder. I am now documenting my journey on a blog:

So far I have identified my "Bad Guys", "Quest" ideas to help me get better, and "Mission" ideas for my friends to help me. I invited my friends to be my Allies last week.

I hope that what I learn and share can be of use to others out there with PTSD from abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
