  • As Cowbird weaves its magic, I find myself "loving" Tiana's stories, and she, mine. We were both born in Buenos Aires, one of my top cities, besides Paris and Florence and Venice and New York. Like Tiana, I left Buenos Aires when I was young, although much later in life than Tiana did.

I consider myself an American, although I missed the cut off age for losing one's accent and people in the States sometimes ask me where I'm from. In Buenos Aires, they think I'm from another state.

I started coming back here a few years ago. I started sobbing underneath ceibo trees, palo borrachos and the Monumento a los Espanioles, my favorite all time monument. I can close my eyes when I'm in the States and evoke the aroma of a good cup of coffee at the corner cafe, a great empanada or an amazing cut of beef, even though I try very hard to be a vegetarian. Tangos break me up, although I have two left feet.

This, Tiana, is an incredible city. A city fit for a woman like you: creative, eager to travel, simpatica. In your honor, I post this photo of the Puente de la Mujer, the Woman's Bridge, in the hope that one day, we will meet nearby and have a delicious empanada.

    Veni a Buenos Aires
