  • Once in a year or so my friend Lance Brunner visits, Professor of Medieval Music at the University Of Kentucky and Shambhala Meditation Teacher. He offers a day or a few hours of meditation, sound experiments and this time: calligraphy!

While my taxi driver drove me to my office we heard through the local radio station that a couple had been assaulted in their home at the outskirts of San Cristóbal. The thieves had strapped them to a beam and robbed the whole house empty. Neighbors suspected and called the police that never ever came. Right after the news we listened to an announcement from exactly that police: If you are in trouble: Just call us!

Just now on FB I read that in an indigenous part of town neighbors caught a thief and stripped him to a wall. And I am shocked to read 3 comments by 3 different individuals inciting the community: Lynch him!

    Hate creates more Hate.
The world seems to be filled with millions of Donald Trumps.

But during our workshop Lance reminded us that for the ancient Chinese there was Earth and Heaven and the human being meant to connect the two.

We learnt some calligraphy trying to express this unity in beauty. This was our last collective piece.
