  • In my US history class today, we did Margaret Sanger and the beginning of the American birth control movement and the founding of Planned Parenthood. I then threw up today's NY Times article about Texas taking away all their funding, even though it is already illegal for Planned Parenthood to perform abortions in Texas, and went off on a 15 minute rant/class discussion. I even said 'I know Oceanside and Vista are ultra-Republican land, and some of you in here may totally disagree with me, but get your religious ideology out of my daughter's vagina!" Granted, maybe I went a little crazy, too much caffeine early in the morning. But did I have the attention of every body in that room? Would they walk out of that room and actually remember something? I think it was a rather effective lesson.

And then we got into a discussion of the differences between Mexican food in San Diego and LA. In San Diego they put french fries in burritos. Someone from Texas found that very bizarre.

Yeah, I get paid to do that. I love my job.
