  • We have this enormous fig tree in the park across from our house, a tree we have affectionately called the 'Avatar' tree. It too inspires the same kind of reverence for nature like its film counterpart; I often look out our kitchen window and see random people from our suburb taking photos of it. Disappearing into it. Sitting with it.

It reminds me how small I am in the grand scheme of things, how young I am, how little my problems really are. Here is this ancient tree, a tree that has witnessed the recent floods that turned our neighbourhood into an inland island. A witness to the ebb and flow of time in our little part of the world.

Joy is making time each day to look out at this beautiful, old tree and remember Who I Am.
