  • In the picture I think she was around 10 years old. But that was many years ago. I had to put her down in December and my heart did break. December 30th to be exact. She told me it was time and I knew that it was. She was 17 years old. I called my sister and told her to come home to say goodbye it was time to take Crackers to the vet for her last trip. Crackers mobility had been decreasing the last couple years and within the last couple months she could barely scrabble up to her feet. My mother couldn't handle it, she couldn't even say goodbye to her. So my sister arrived crying and we helped her walk to the truck and me and my father lifted her into the back of the truck bed onto her soft and cozy pillow bed. I hoped into the truck bed and pet her all the way to the vet. She held her head up and felt the breeze for the last time. We arrived and the vet techs carried her out of the truck bed on a gurney but she held her head up like an Egyptian queen carried by her loyal subjects. We all went into a room and they explained what would soon be taking place. She went peaceful and I was petting her until she passed, I refused to leave her and kept telling her what a good girl she was and that she was brave. I will always miss her but I was glad that I could be with her and I will always love her.
