  • Manabu asks "Does the cycle event exist in other countries?"

Yes, yes it does. You will find cycling groups all over the world my friend, (with the possible exception of Antarctica). We gather in clubs and coffee shops, flash-mobs and trail-heads. We ride road, we ride trails, we ride red-rock, we ride snow. We take trains, planes and automobiles to the places we choose to ride, meeting folks around the world. We rent condos, chalets and campgrounds, forging friendships and marriages around hot tubs and campfires. We track our lives by the odometer's miles, traveling at a pace that lets our minds absorb the experience and saturate our memories fully.

The bicycle is our common tool of enlightenment you see... Ever since our first tentative pedal strokes, with dad hanging on the back of the saddle for moral support, our bikes have given us freedom; Stoked our need for adventure and bonded us with the like-minded individuals we meet.

As a young man I often rode alone, like you say you prefer. Looking for the zen that came from the snick-snick-snick of perfect shifts and the melodic hum of the tires. Winding through sweet-smelling orchard country, looking for some peace in my hectic adolescence. But now I rarely do. All my friends are cyclists too, and it helps to have friends about when things get dangerous.

I hope you can find a good bicycle club and some friends with which to share your passion as you see it. You can find bicycle vacations all over the world in magazines and websites, you only need to Google.

I wish for you great adventures!
