  • I love tomatoes but only the ones I grow in my own back yard. I have always found it difficult to buy those pale or orange tomatoes you find in the stores this time of year. However, this past Christmas, wanting to have a great salad for our family gathering, I bought some"vine ripened" tomatoes from my favorite produce store. At least they were red. Of course they had a lot to be desired in taste. These are a few that I had left over and have been sitting on my counter since 12/22/15. Scary isn't it?

    I don't know if I even want to throw them in my compost pile.
