  • Julie sent me an email that began with "I know this is a lot more than a simple wish but...". It continued with Sarah's story - an 18 year old gift who was about to graduate from the Army's basic training. She had been in foster care for most of her childhood, after both of her parents had died. In the last few years, she finally found some sense of family in two caseworkers that worked with her in a program in NJ. But the agency they were with wouldn't approve their travel expenses to South Carolina to watch her graduate.

We agreed to match dollar for dollar every donation that our supporters made and within a few days, we raised the $800 they needed to be there to celebrate with her. Sarah sent us this thank you.

"Even when you're not home, seeing familiar faces is a warm welcome to the future and the next step forward. My appreciation is deeply collected through love and divinity. Thank you!" ~ Sarah W.
