  • You want pause you say?

    I’ll give you pause.

Let’s pause for a moment and think about our ancestors coming to the USA the tired, poor, huddled massed yearning to be free.

Let’s pause and think what the USA would be if we had turned back the wretched refuse of Ireland’s Italy’s England's Germany’s teeming shores.

Let’s pause from hatred and anger and prejudice.

Let’s pause from accepting the inflammatory words of a front running presidential candidate suggesting that we brand people like Hitler did.

Let’s pause from the lack of response to these inflammatory words by our President, Vice President the Senate the House and all the other candidates.

Let’s pause from not answering questions like what is the difference between allowing tourists to freely walk in and out of the USA and the relatively small number of Syrian refugees that are only granted asylum after the most stringent vetting system in the world that takes two years.

Let's pause from thinking the Syrian mom is different from our own.

Let’s pause to listen to our hearts.

Let's pause to hear the cries of grandma and grandpa as they huddled in the dirty hulls of rickety boats.

Let’s pause to feel the smile on their faces as they saw the New York Harbor and felt hope in their hearts.

Let’s pause and think about the first Thanksgiving, if it did exist the way we are told. And even if it didn’t.

Let’s pause and feel the pain of the people in Rwanda in 1992, as the USA turned its back on the slaughter of 800,000 innocents in 100 days.

Let’s pause and separate religious zealots whether Christin or Muslim or anything else, from peace loving and gentle people who want to practice their faith.

Let’s pause and pray for victims of all violence, including people from every country in the world, from our own victims of gun violence to 9/11 to children in Iraq and Nigeria and Mali and Kenya and Brazil and Mexico and... Let pause and weep for those in Paris and Beirut and for the tens of thousands of disappeared innocents in Argentina.

Let’s pause and be grateful that we have seen so little war on our own soil.

Let’s please pause and become human again.
