  • I feel so grateful to have known Grace Lee Boggs and to be a small part of her continuing work for change in Detroit and in our country. Thank you Grace for sharing your wisdom, hope, and love with us for so many years. We will miss you and will continue to build the Beloved Community that you have inspired.

Here are some of the things that I have learned from Grace:
    -The importance of having conversations
-The need to take time for retreats and reflection
-The power of multicultural, intergenerational community
-That I will always be a student
-That I need to do my homework (always a growing point for me)

I had the honor of writing a song with the students at the Boggs School a couple of years ago. I think the lyrics speak to how Grace's spirit will continue to live in the school and in our communities: "Boggs School is full of love and grace, Boggs school is an amazing place...This place is an oasis, a garden of smiling faces, Boggs School is a community where friendship love and Grace is."
