  • It was an unseasonably warm October day. I tripped here and there. Lunching by the canal. I stared at people, drinking them in. I studied a marble grizzly for a long time... stealing a touch when the gallery staff weren't looking.

I weaved from one cobblestone street to the next, roaming long alleys, dancing my fingers over ancient stone, making way for bicycles. As I walked beneath the Domkerk Cathedral Tower music flowed over me. I followed the sounds, leaning into sacred walls, making room for the many to pass.

I stood long and listened to this angel. People moved quickly and I wondered at their indifference.

    An Angel is singing!

    A miracle unfolds!

I listened for some time. When there was a break in the music I approached him, wishing to express my gratitude. To my amazement he looked upon my face, without seeing me. He looked into my voice as I wept for his gift; my heart exploding.

We made a trade. I spoke softly of his many blessings while he studied my face with his hands.
