  • My first serious portrait. I started following The Fratellis in 2007, going to see the band several times a year. They were the band that got me to leave my own country without my parents.

Thanks to them I met a lot of like minded music lovers and on their forum, I first decided to post some rather crappy art. One thing led to another and when I went to see the band at an instore show and they recognised me as 'the girl that does art' on the forum.

Of course, this made me want to make more art, and this picture of Jon Fratelli is a direct result of that.

This painting took me over 50 hours to make over a time period of 4 months. I never had the patience to try anything like this again. I gave this to Jon Fratelli when I went to see the band sometime later, with some coordination help from his sister. It was up in the band's studio for a while and the last time I saw him he sat down with me and the first thing he said was: 'I still have it, ya know, it's safe and rolled up it it's tube in the attic'.
