  • As Carla slowed ShadowHeart down to a halt, Lilian jumped off of HotPepper and lead him inside the barn. She told me to follow along immediately, and there isn't saying no to Lilian. Carla lead ShadowHeart into the barn right behind HotPepper and Lilian. Lilian was already untacking HotPepper, she told Carla to also untack. When they finished untacking Lilian said that they should go hide in the house and not answer the door for Melanie if she came. If they answered the door they would get into huge trouble. After about 3 hours of hiding some one knocked on the door. They look out the window that was 2 floors above the door just to make sure they didn't get seen if it was Melanie. Carla wasn't that shocked to find Melanie all scratched up holding her horse and practically beating the door down. Lilian said not to open it and to stay as quiet as possible so she wouldn't think we were here. Carla told Lilian that Melanie had most likely looked in the barn for the horses before she knocked on the door. Lilian admitted that Melanie most likely did that. It was a few moments of knocking on the door and Lilian finally spoke up. She asked if there was another exit besides the front door. Carla said there was a basement and it had a little window above ground that they could sneak through, but they would have to stay low on the main floor so Melanie didn't see their shadows through the window. Lilian agreed on the window in the basement, but asked how they would get to the barn to get the horses without being seen. Then Carla remembered the little hallway that lead to the underground storage in the barn. Carla spoke up about that and Lilian said that would be easy and then they could run the horses out the back barn door. Carla lead the way down the stairs and ducked down when she was 5 stairs from the main floor. Lilian did the same 7 stairs up and they half ran to the basement stairway. Carla went down and lead the way to the barn storage.
