  • As Carla and Lilian rode the championship track they weren't supposed to know, some one very unexpected had shown up and followed them. Melanie. The person who came up with the track. She yelled for them to stop but they kept running. She kept following, and yelling for us to stop. Lilian told Carla to follow her, that she knew how to get away from Melanie and her Friesian, RockShadow. Lilian said that RockShadow wasn't very agile and that if they took a narrow path they would lose Melanie and her horse. Carla followed Lilian through the abandoned road that lead to the old mine shaft. It was extremely narrow and had tons of underbrush. Carla was fascinated with how well ShadowHeart could jump the underbrush and duck under the branches, and Carla was laughing at Melanie so hard she started to cry because Melanie's head kept hitting the branches and RockShadow kept tripping over the underbrush. Carla wondered how her Friesian, ShadowHeart, was more agile than Melanie's Friesian, RockShadow. Maybe it was because she trained more often with ShadowHeart, but she didn't have the time to think that through because Lilian was yelling at Carla to take the left path while she took the right. Carla nodded her head in agreement and darted onto the left path. Melanie stopped RockShadow as Lilian darted to the right. Melanie went straight because she knew where we were headed. The old mineshaft. Carla decided to turn left again to confuse Melanie because no one knows this path as well as she did. Carla was heading towards old mans Jaspers house. He hated trespassers but right now was like life and death for her chance to run in the championship. She was not letting that chance die. So she urged ShadowHeart to jump the 5 foot fence that had barbed wire on the top. ShadowHeart jumped about 8 feet to early but he didn't even graze the barbed wire. ShadowHeart was practically flying to the barn. Carla could barely breath from all of the pressure. Lilian had popped up over the hill and yelled at Carla about why she wasn't on the path towards the mineshaft, but Carla just nodded in disapproval at Lilian. She nodded back in agreement and flew along the path towards Carla's barn.
