  • I watch your eyes,
    the blue grey moves me.
In daylight I imagine you live where
    there are cozy caverns,
    concave smooth walls.
    Glistening, half crescents-
    you are sleepy.
    Peripheral vision.
    I’m walking in your path.
We sip our wine and dance
    beside the fireplace,
    moving like glistening sequins
    and stars out at night.
    There are wide, open landscapes
of a desert where no lights can touch us.
In the embracing darkness of evening
you take glimpses through pinholes -
    gazing through me.
The aperture set to extend the
    exposure.
As we lie in bed the chandelier’s kaleidoscope
catches a headlight in the driveway,
    you whisper,
    someone is just turning around.
    The crystal shadow reflects on,
    down the hallway to
    the bedroom wall.
