  • What do you do when your dream comes true... only to be literally burnt to the ground? This was the question John Young faced when, after building the barbershop of his dreams, he received the news that an unknown arsonist had destroyed it. Everything he owned was up in flames.

Working in the divided city of Daytona, Florida, there was a strong sense that the crime may have been racially motivated. But the perpetrator was never caught, and the motive never officially known.
  • However, for all that John lost, he also found himself in a place to gain. Almost immediately after getting the news of his personal tragedy, he received an offer to run a brand new salon, essentially replacing the materials he had lost at no cost. Of course, there's no way to replicate a dream. But for John, that loss is in the past... His eyes are on the future.
