My last year of college I lived in an apartment near campus. For a while each morning when I walked to school a crow would follow me. Well, not exactly follow. It actually flew in front of me, "leading" the way, perching on a streetlight, then when I got near, flying to the next one.
It would fly away when I crossed onto school grounds. It never followed me onto campus and was never there at night when I left school to head back to the apartment.
The irrational part of my mind decided that it was making sure nothing bad would happen to me each morning during that short walk to school. As I only saw it in the morning, apparently the rest of the day was not it's responsibility.
After a couple months of this, the crow stopped it's routine and I never saw it again. The pattern had become familiar enough that I missed it a little when it stopped.
