    The ballot papers are in
    and the announcement made.

    No surprises for me.
A paper candidate through and through.
I came fifth out of six.
474 votes, less than 5% of the vote, deposit lost.
    I answered my emails.
I attended one hustings – the other unfortunately clashing with a family commitment.
    I did what I could.
    No money and little time
meant I could not run a campaign.
I stood for the party, I tried my best.

    But,
as the party has been decimated across the country,
    I only take positives.

    So many people,
    of all political persuasions,
    congratulate me on standing.
    Standing for what I believe.
    Not sitting on the sidelines,
waiting for the government to ‘happen’ to me.
