  • It was the experience of wandering around in his own mind, during all his wake moments, like a man walks in the thicket of a forest, forgetful yet with bouts of certainty and firm knowledge that a treasure was there that would never go away. And just like that man walking by chance into a clearing where the treasure is sparkling in the sunlight, he re-discovered his secret luck over and over again.

For, the new prospects of his life were so new, and totally different from what he'd thought himself doing just a few weeks ago, that they required re-thinking, and actually re-wiring his brain. Because in the human mind, everything is connected with everything else, and just like the addition of a single guest to a dinner party increases the number of handshakes by the number of guests already there, the addition of a pocket of facts to our living knowledge is not done lightly and requires the serious work of dreams. The last time this happened, long ago, was when he'd fallen in love.

A single night, the night where the two life stories are first told, recreates the world.
