  • The biggest event of my day happened when I checked the mail.
I spent the day programming and writing. So I neglected to get the mail until then.

The item waiting for me in the recesses of my mailbox was from the IRS.
The envelope was too thick to be good news.

They say that the only sure thing in life is death and taxes.
So far I've avoided death, despite a couple of close calls.
    Not so on the taxes.
Not so on rather nasty notes from the IRS demanding an extra $8,697 (including penalties) for 2010.
To be paid by March 28, 2012.

    Breathe.

I believe (hope?) they have made an error.
But I still have to spend precious time dealing with their error.
Precious time I'd rather spend kissing someone.
    Fondling a dog's ears.
Cooking brussels sprouts (yes, I love them. I know I'm weird).
    Watching the sunrise.

When I saw the letter, I said the F word. Loudly. I admit it.
Then I went out and reconstructed my little pile of balanced stones that had fallen down in the night.
