  • This is about the time we drove east, to see a sad boy in a band.

We packed her Honda full of dangerous and fragile items. J went with us, if only for the free ticket to the show, and the chance that he might get laid. We drove slowly, stopping at every other rest stop, but no one complained. We took turns playing music and lighting the joints and sleeping.

In New Jersey, at a wooded lookout area, a tick found it's way into my thigh, and lived there until we made it to NYC. In our hotel room overlooking Times Square, we removed it with the tweezers we used as a roachclip. We then hung its body up on the wall with "DEATH TO ALL TICKS" scrawled above it.

We saw a police chase, and an urban garden, and we shared secrets on the fire escape before sneaking off to the white bathroom, before falling asleep in a pile on the floral comforter.

We held hands on the subway and decided against visiting the Empire State Building when we heard that we may be searched.

We took the Staten Island Ferry and saw the Statue of Liberty only from a distance.

We took each others pictures standing against graffitied walls, and tall buildings, and I don't think we looked sick.

J fell in with a group of skateboarders in Central Park, and we had to race to catch up, and so I never did see the carousel.
