  • I wake up at 3:30 am on a pretty regular basis. This is a new development and probably hormonal. Having said that, I find that I like this time of day. I am the only person awake in the world - at least my small corner of it. If I make a sound, and I try not to as others are slumbering, it sounds amplified. I deliberately tiptoe. I feel no need to turn on the television for company. The house is quiet, except for the ticking of the clock, which I never hear in the daytime. The street is quiet, there are no cars passing by. The world is quiet. The whole world is sleeping and dreaming. I like this alone time. I fix a cup of chamomile tea and dream while awake. I think about going to far away places. Africa. Timbuktu. Mount Everest. The Moon. There are no limits in dreams.
