  • Produced for WCAI's Sonic IDs
(Part of a collaboration between Transom and Cowbird)

    Notes from Jay Allison

Helen Woodward used to work with us at Atlantic Public Media/WCAI/Transom and she was responsible for a lot of Sonic production. Helen is English ( married to an Irishman) and a survey of her sonics will find a inordinate number of Irish voices. She was partial to Sonics about the sea.

About this one, she says, "We joined the RV Knorr in a shipyard in Charleston, SC and interviewed some of the crew about life aboard one of the most renowned (and now retired) oceanographic research ships around. Needless to say, one of the downsides of life at sea is seasickness, and this ordinary seaman knows it too well."

We were deciding whether to use this Sonic of Helen's or one about riding out big storms at sea. That one is called "Walking The Walls."
