  • i started calling people and recording them last year.
yes, i know it's against the law and all.
but i'm not recording secret conversations or anything illicit.
just people, on the phone. family.

yesterday my grandmother was telling me about a valentines day party that she went to at the senior citizen center.
she said that everyone there had to bring a card to the party, and then they would pass one another the cards or read them aloud.

    what did you do?

my uncle sent her flowers "from the family" she told me that she put the flowers on a table that her great uncle built by hand.

"do you want to hear the cards?"

she read me every card she received aloud, and the funny jokes in the cards and i wished that i would have had my tape recorder ready.
