  • So...I met with a man today who lives in Assisted Living. He was telling me his wife died a few years back. They were married for 70 years. Yes...I said 70! He told me how he met her.

He said..."I was a soldier during WWII and I was sitting in a restaurant with my army buddies in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We were all in uniform. I was engaged at the time to a girl in Hollywood, Ca, but I knew it wouldn't work.

Then two girls walked into the restaurant, a blond and a brunette.
I poked my buddy and said,
"Do you see those two girls?"
And he said, "Ya, what of it?"
And I said, "Look real closely at the brunette."
    My buddy said, "Why?"
I told him, "Because that's the girl I'm going to marry."

So...back to me at the Assisted Living facility. I ask him,
"How did you know she was the one when she just walked in and you hadn't spoken?"
    "I just knew," he said.
    "I knew right away.
I could tell by the way she walked, by the way she sat down in the booth, by the way she looked at the menu."
    "Hmm," I replied,
"Sounds like love at first sight."
