  • When your heart hurts, your head tends to follow suit. It checks out from any logical thought. Your heart really does overrule your head.
So when everything hurts in your chest, and it feels like you can't breath. When your throat feels like it's being restricted, like you can't talk, and if you do, only a strangled gasp will emerge. When it weighs heavy and you can't help it but kneel down with your forehead on the floor and silently scream, until it feels better. If it feels better. And it may not do. It may never feel the same. Remember this. Everytime there is a crack, it takes something to fill it in and mend it. So that crack, that used to be part of the whole, has broken away and now needs some cement, something to stick it back together. As you fill the crack with your cement, whether that is laughter, love, sunshine, music, wine or gin by candlelight, remember this. Your heart is now that tiny bit bigger. It took those things to fix it, to mend your heart. It isn't broken, it's only slightly cracked and it doesn't take much to mend it, because a crack is easy to mend with whatever glue you choose. Whether that is friendship, new love, new clothes. Or gin by candlelight.
