  • Every new chapter in the life of P the Plant was met with an appointment to H the Historiographer. P the Plant was reporting to H the Historiographer on its growth during the last chapter of his life. H the Historiographer’s job was to make sense of the collection of stories he kept from his previous meetings with P the Plant.

Some of P the Plant’s chapters were less interesting and had not much of detail to them; others were full with drama, action and twists. Yet H the Historiographer would put one blank A4 page under each chapter, regardless of the content of the report.

The day was T day, and P the Plant arrived to its periodical meeting with H the Historiographer. On that particular T day, P the Plant was very upset, and frankly he had no mood and no time to see H the Historiographer. Luckily for him, the feelings were mutual. H the Historiographer did not show up to their appointment, and instead of him in the off white office was sitting F the Futurist. P the Plant was surprised, which added to his feelings of unease and confusion.

    - How can I help you, dear P the Plant?
    - I am facing a big bushy problem that has so many branches and ends, I need to make sense of it all. The confusion makes my growth go messy and loose its direction.
    - Ok, dear P the Plant. I will try to help you, but as opposed to my colleague, H the Historiographer, I am going to put blank A4 pages ahead of you, rather than behind you. Can you please tell me briefly in what direction would you like your growth to go in the next two chapters?

P the Plant was surprised by the sudden change of direction in the conversations held in the off white office. He came ready to talk about his last chapter, and now he is asked about the next one.

He started telling F the Futurist about the pink wall of the next door house that he wishes to climb. There, behind an electric fence grows a beautiful Avocado tree named A the Avo tree. P the Plant told F the Futurist in length about the birds that come singing on A the Avo tree, and how he wishes to come closer near them. He yearns to enjoy the shade with the music behind the pink wall.

    - And is your direction the right direction towards the shade of A the Avo tree?
    - Well, yes. But it’s very slow and filled with tangles and mess that delays my growth towards the pink wall. There are old furniture and other plants.
    - It’s fine, you’ll get there. I see it. Now thank you, our time is finished.
