  • Every New Year's Eve, my friend, Teodora, writes herself a letter, seals it and puts it away until next year. She gets to read the previous year's letter that day too. I imagine she must have a pile of them stored away for safe keeping. This year, I am going to start a new tradition with my son and we are going to write ourselves a Leap Year letter. They will go to live in the letter boxes with the other treasures. Next Leap Year I will read mine and he will his. I wonder what we will remember. I wonder what we will forget.

Seize the moment on Feb 29th to pick up a pen or pencil and write someone--or yourself-- a letter for leap year, on the day that shouldn't exist. What will you say, what won't you remember, what will you learn about yourself? Four years seems like long enough to help you recognize your old monkey business... You will get to read it on Monday, 2016.
