  • Nick Anaya on the title of 3.5.7 Ensemble's new album "Amongst the Smokestacks and Steeples":

"To me, 'Amongst the Smokestacks and Steeples' is a tribute to the non-service based industry here in Chicago. It's about building stuff. It's about people working with their hands to develop goods as opposed to just talking about them or speculating on them.

When most people think of Chicago or any other city, it's the downtown district with all the skyscrapers and all the nice-looking buildings that comes to mind, not the warehouses, the brick-and-mortar two-story factories that span out for miles in every direction.

So, the album is really about all of the people who labor to make things, and how they're forgotten."
