  • Molly ducked into the café hoping when her coffee was done the summer rain would be done too. It’s been an hour, the rain keeps falling and her cup is empty.

Wanting another cup and still not remembering which coins equal which amounts, she nervously counts her Euros. After a few minutes of counting and recounting, Molly lifts her gaze just slightly, in the way her French friends instructed, summoning the waiter. “Une autre tasse de café, s’il vous plait?”

She wanted her French to be perfect but at the end of each phrase a question mark appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, questioning every statement. Did she really want another coffee? Yes?
