  • My grandma always told me “No Matter what, when I’m gone look up to the sky and know that I’m one of the stars looking down on you!” Just a week ago she passed away due to very aggressive lung cancer. My grandma was my best friend and my idol. Right before she died I spent a whole week with her in the hospital. Her hospital room was a very small place. She looked very yellow and pale. Everyday we had to feed her because she was too weak to feed herself. Seeing her like that was very heartbreaking and eye opening because anything could happen at any point. Making my grandma proud was always my priority. While I spent time with her in the hospital we talked about what I want out of life. I told her I want to go to college to get my nursing degree. She was more than happy and told me “Good choice hita you’ve always wanted to help people.” My grandma was always one that pushed me, along with my parents. There was a point when I wanted to quit school and get a job because I was tired of my parents struggling to make a living for me. My grandma told me, “If you give up now you will be in the same position as them when you’re older. Stay in school and get a degree!” My grandma was always someone who knew when something was wrong. Every time I was feeling down she was the one who would call me and make sure everything is okay. She was always the one to put the smile on my face. Every day she is my motivation to get up and succeed with my life. I know that now she is gone, but she is still looking over me making sure I am doing everything that I promised her I would. Finishing high school and going on to college is very nerve wrecking, but I know it’s what she would of wanted for me! No matter how stressful it can all be I’m finishing not only for myself, but for her. My grandma always wanted the best for me out of my life. She showed me the most love that anyone could! Thank you grandma for leading me to the path that I’m on today. I am the person I am today because of you!
