  • Came across this photograph, taken in July this year, when Judy, Rachel and I went to see the Mens All Round Gymnastics as the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. We had a great day and it was such fun just to hang out together.

A feeling of deep joy rose within me as I looked at my two 'girls'. I just love them to bits and am so pleased that they chose me to be their Mum. It is sometimes easy to feel guilty that you were not the perfect Mum you hoped to be. I was a working mother and two questions circulated around most of my days. "What time will you be in, Ann?" and "What time will you be home, Mum?". I was spinning lots of plates and never quite feeling I was giving my full attention to any of them. Seeing their smiles in this photo lets me know that I got so much more right that I ever got wrong.

As now as a Granny, I feel joy in having more space in my consciousness and more time in my life to give the grandkids my undivided attention. I think that is what grandparents are for:)
