  • Have you ever heard of Mocedades? Back in the early seventies, while I lived in my native country of Chile, we heard the Spanish group Mocedades on the radio often. They were something like the Abba of the Hispanic world. Today, for some reason, I bumped into its YouTube video of Eres Tu, one of their hit singles from back in the day. “Eres tu como el agua de mi fuente, eres tu el fuego de mi hogar”, the vocalist sings in her opulent Castilian voice. Listening to it brings back memories of my childhood, a time when my parents provided for my basic needs of both “agua” and “fuego”. As I turn 48 years old today, I ponder this question to myself. Who or what qualms my thirst and bestows me warmth? And without a doubt it comes to me. My faith in the mighty power of the universe, and all the gifts it grants me on a daily basis. You are one of those very special gifts.
