  • I looked around as I walked home. The city wasn’t as crowded as usual. I needed to get from Charlotte to my house as fast as possible, so I looked for some help. Normally I would take a cab, but I had no money on me. I went inside a school that had a teacher inside. It was 5:00, so I thought that there wouldn’t be a class. The teacher looked up from his book. He looked old, but wise, something inside me kept saying. I knew I needed his help. “I have seen you down the street, and I know your problem, and why you need my help”. I didn’t object, it was pretty obvious what was going on. The old man told me “look at the tree outside”. I looked. All I saw was a tall dead tree. “That is the tree you must climb” I ran outside and started climbing the dead tree. It was taller than I remembered. When I got to the top I looked around, and saw the church top that was near my house. I looked down at the old man and he nodded. Then he pointed to his car. As he drove me home, I looked back at the dead tree, and smiled.
