  • -1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
-Women ages 20 to 24 are at the greatest risk of becoming victims of domestic violence.
-Every year, 1 in 3 women who is a victim of domestic violence is murdered by her current or former partner.

Amongst screaming obscenities and my hoarse shrieking of regret - I was violently yanked into the air by my throat.
My hands are clinging onto his shirt pleading to reach his shoulders so I can find a way to climb out of this predicament.
I instinctively pulled my knees to my chest in an effort to brace myself for a fight.
There was a crunch and a dull thud. It was my body. I'm lying on the cold, oil stained concrete of my garage.
Hearing your bones clink around is quite a distinct sound.
My head is crookedly held in place against a misplaced porcelain sink addition.
What just happened? Everything is slow motion and I'm paralyzed.
Halfway between wondering where the hell I am and trying to remind my body to fight back.
My face contorts as I finally come back to my senses.
Eyes wide, there's a sharp pain surging up my spine to my neck.
My skin is against the concrete and oh, God... it's cold.
My senses intensify, every nerve ending is on fire.
200 pounds of man curled above my 100 pound frame, hands secured around my neck like vice grips.
There's fingers pressed into the flesh of my neck so hard that the air is struggling to reach my lungs.
Oh my God why is this happening to me...
The nightmare ended as I stumbled around barefoot in the grass of my front yard.
Brain boggled and the world upside down.
    Nobody is invincible.
