  • The abyss, it stares back with an empty gaze
And mutely mocks those who implore it
It holds secrets to eternal questions untranslatable
Into languages spoken by humans on earth
    And thus offers no reply...

Sparkling stars obscure the night as rain falls like tears from heaven
For the short moment the black abyss isn’t so intimidating
Or so mysterious, or so mortally incomprehensible
No, it fits perfectly in the background of the scene
The beautiful scene that reminds us to look around
To appreciate the here and now, to value the notion of weather
To love the rain in our hair and the light in our eyes
And the air in our lungs and the thoughts in our minds
And not to worry about the unknowable
It’s times like this when Time’s bluff is called,
When the unity of all is revealed
Who can worry about the abyss when the rain dances and the stars smile
    here?
Or about the so-called tomorrow when today’s clocks have stopped
    now?
