  • from the headland looking out
    waves arise and drop, from me to infinity
    wind and sea as they ever were
    restless partners
    unadorned, unburdened

    and yet, within the rise and fall
    caught between crest and trough
    at times carried on the cusp
    held aloft with the spindrift
    amidst the foaming banners
    at times folded deep within
    hidden, lost
    consumed, undigested
    until, at waves’ end
    let go, abandoned
    as the wave runs back
    slips away

    her burden revealed.
