  • Speak to me of heaven and your ideas of hell,
    A topic you claim to know, and understand so well;
    But when I don’t agree, you’re suddenly insistent
    On judging my beliefs completely inconsistent…

    Brainwashed I must be, you judge me in a flash,
    By evil rock and roll, my beliefs you subtley trash;
    You must have missed my point, that music saved my soul;
    I must have missed the memo; but that’s o.k., I’m cool…

    I try to keep an open mind to spiritual beliefs.
    I’ve no corner on that market, and that’s a big relief!
    No axes to be ground, except a mean guitar,
    I bless you on your way, as heaven’s not so far…

    No pearly gated community a way up in the sky,
    Not the place I pray to go, on that fateful day I die;
    My experience is different, not right nor wrong, just mine;
    Heaven and hell are here and now, not just the day I’m dyin’…

    You think that means I don’t believe in them
    I do, just not your interpretion, of when
    We’ll have access to each of these places.
    I’ve lived the fires of hell, been touched by heaven’s graces…
