I did not know what love was, until I was no longer allowed to be a parent to my son Aaron. Not because of anything he had done, but because of my lifestyle choices. I became a week-end father, a one-a-month father, and when I moved to Texas, a once-a-year father.
I became an active observer, an admirer, a follower of my son when he was in his twenties, as I joined him (several times) on his walk across America.
I mapped him (for me not him) hitchhiking across Siberia; marveled at him sitting with the Imam; felt the exhileration of climbing the mountain to observe the Children of the Sun.
I felt the pure adrenalin as he rode with the Lakota in the bad lands, etc., infinitum, et al. You get the picture. Aaron became my first love.
Love, is understanding that life is not about you, but about doing what you love, loving what you do and most of all, sharing all you are with love.
