  • Three mornings a week, at 6 am or 7 am or 8 am, I consider this scene--that of a giant spider chasing two miniature horses--while I wait for the elevator to blast the morning "news" and climb six floors to a yoga studio. It reminds me of Halloween. It reminds me of stickers on the walls of friends' apartments in Geneva. It reminds me of studying biology in college, of learning that horses were once the size of foxes, that everything has transformed, from banana seeds to angiosperms, that we're all climbing somewhere, but not necessarily up.
