  • Training in a gas chamber in North Carolina, as we prepared to go to Iraq later that year. I suppose it was because of the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" that we went over there to find.

Although it isn't "technically" a great photograph, it's one of my favorites. Even though I know it was nothing but a simple training exercise to test our gas masks, I find it haunting every time I look at it. The terrifyingly faceless human forms just standing there, looking in the same direction, the strangeness of it all... It's like Annie Leibovitz says; "The best camera is the one you have with you at the time."
