  • Speaking of my old high school, this is a photograph of a mosaic that covers the west exterior wall near the main entrance. I was fascinated by this mural when I was a student. It was so cool and retro and bizarre.

    I didn't know what the symbols meant. And more than that, I couldn't imagine how anyone could design something like this. I wasn't an artist, back then. I didn't study art until university. And in high school, my mind would look at these colour combinations, and these shapes, and start to bend.

    I used to feel the same way about music, too, I guess... until I learned to sing.

    Maybe everything's a mystery, until you do it a few times.
