  • I had a snow globe of the Kaaba, representing Islam, and I had a snow globe of Jesus on the cross, representing Christianity. But I needed one more to complete the monotheist trinity, I needed Judaism.

Then one day in Santa Barbara, inside a Sav-on Drugs, there was a display for a Jewish holiday. I don’t know which one, it wasn’t Hanukkah, but it was a big enough one to warrant a small, end-of-aisle display in a drug store. And there it was, what I had been searching years to find, a snow globe with the Star of David inside. I bought that.

The next day I was finally able to place my three monotheist snow globes on my desk at school. I couldn’t put the other two by themselves, but now I had all three, I wasn’t playing favorites, I was multicultural.

There is no snow, but sparkly flakes, with a bluish tint.
