My name is Laura Covelli.

I am a farmer and teacher. I was born in Lombardia, Italy. I live in Caselle Landi, Lombardia, Italy. You can also find me here. I’ve told 18 stories. I joined Cowbird on February 6, 2012.

Teacher and farmer who lives in the Italian countryside in the middle of nowhere...

I like being free. I love living in the countryside and being immersed in nature. This is what freedom feels like to me. I grow crops in my vegetable gardens and I support sustainable agriculture as I think we should all start to take care of this Motherland of ours.

I teach foreign languages. I love being a language teacher because when people learn another tongue, they are opening themselves up to bigger dreams and wider horizons. They begin to dream more about the world and finding their place in it. I love these kinds of dreams. As a teacher, I support equal opportunities for education and see it as an important social justice issue. Our communities can’t make progress without enjoying and sharing the power of knowledge.

I am what I am because of those I met on the road. Traveling has had a great and positive impact on my everyday life, my views and my understanding of the world. When I can’t be on the road, I often open my home to travelers who may be passing though Italy. When these like-minded souls stay with me, they bring about a great sensation, and I feel as though I am traveling with them. I often find myself feeling so connected to people I've never seen before. Sharing some of ourselves with others and listening to what other people have to say is a way to enrich our minds and our souls.

I like creating and using my inventiveness. I love using my hands; arts and crafts bring joy in my life.

I like devoting time and energy to those in need. I like dreaming and helping others to do the same.

I’m in a constant search for truth; I like real people and their real stories. I like being a witness and spending time picturing the beauty around me.
